What activities are Time Bank members involved in? (continued from page 1)
The ITBN Intergenerational Project has been operating successfully since March 2007. The aim of the project is to encourage local residents from different age groups to come together through voluntary activity, providing services that benefit their local community. This voluntary activity hopes to break down barriers across generations, cultures and races and encourage mutual understanding and respect as all voluntary activity is given equal credit within the ITBN.

Environmental group activities have been organised focusing on estates and parks in the north of the borough. This has been a further opportunity for TB members to get involved and meet new people in the area.

Open days and coffee mornings have been organised to widen the involvement. Opposite: Caxton House TB social event March 07.

43 individuals have volunteered through the project so far with the youngest participant aged 9 and the oldest over 70.

IT sessions will be offered by young people from the Northside Youth Project to TB members. The young people involved in the project will receive accreditation via Youth Volunteering Awards and will gain project management and presentational skills.
The ITBN had a stall to promote Time Banking and the Intergenerational Project at the Islington Faiths Forum community festival held at the New Christian Centre in March 2007. This Community Festival was an opportunity for all faith groups and partnership organisations to show and celebrate the variety of services they provide for the community in Islington. Opposite: Islington Faiths Forum.

This event was open to members of the local community interested in finding out about volunteering opportunities, as well as university staff and students. It marked the start of Volunteers’ Week which ran 1st – 7th June 2007. The ITBN had a stall at the event and signed up some potential new members to the Time Bank. Opposite: Volunteering Fair.
